In this unit, students will learn that:

  • sound travels in waves
  • sound waves are vibrations moving through the air
  • pitch refers to the highness or lowness of a sound
  • volume refers to the loudness of a sound
  • different pitches and volumes reflect changes in the vibrations of sound waves
  • acoustical engineers manipulate sound to make musical patterns
  • acoustical engineers use the Engineering Design Process to create acoustical technology

Total: 4 to 6 hours of instruction
